# Title Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and Nest Description A Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) shapes its nest. According to The Sibley Guide to Bird Life & Behavior, gnatcathers build their nests with "plant fibers bound together by spider webs, fastened to the top of a large branch and covered with lichens or other small items" possibly to help conceal the nest. In this example, it appears the bird used small, white flower petals to cover the nest.
