The Pharaoh Cicada is one of three species of 17-year Periodical Cicadas in Brood XIV, the brood that emerged as adults in 2025. Their offspring (nymphs) will hatch from eggs laid on tree branches and fall to ground. They will burrow underground to feed on tree roots and remain there until 2042, when they will repeat the cycle.
