Title
Ten Commandments Plaque in Town Hall

Description
A "Ten Commandments" plaque hangs on the wall just inside the entrance to the town hall of Newland, North Carolina. The legality of such displays is questionable because of potential violation of the "Establishment Clause" of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The Establishment Clause is one basis for the doctrine of church-state separation.
